Choosing Regular Size Mattress Sets
When you begin shopping, you probably already have a few things in mind. You either know your baby's gender or are planning on using a gender neutral palette. You may even have a color scheme that you are leaning towards. When you venture out to the mall or department store, you can expect a few things. First, the standard baby crib bedding sets still come with four main components: the sheet, dust ruffle, bumper pads and the blanket or comforter. These usually come packaged together as a set, though some lines may allow you to mix and match each piece separately. You can expect to see popular color schemes of the day, as well as sets that feature characters.
Your babies bedding set should come with bumpers. The bumpers are plush like pillows and protect your babies limbs or head from getting stuck between the rails on the crib. Use caution when using those right away as well. Yes I know the bumpers bring out the ambiance of the crib along with the skirt that comes with the bedding. Just don't allow the beauty affect for guest allow you to make a lapse in judgement as far as safety is concerned where baby sleeps.
When purchasing twin Bedding sets usually the set will include one twin sheet set, one twin bed skirt, one twin comforter and one pillow sham. Sometimes it will include a duvet cover and bed skirt and sometimes it will not. This is why it is very important to read what is included in the set.
Being able to keep the baby protected in the crib is always important. The use of crib bumpers is something to watch for in bedding sets. Many sets will include these bumpers that will be placed around the bars of the bed. This is so that a good cushion can be placed around the walls of the bed. The baby will not be harmed in the event that the baby rolls into the bed walls.
When I say luxury I mean everything from the sheets to the quilt on top of your bed. Bed sheets are categorized by the thread count in a square inch of linen material. As the thread count grows in number, it becomes softer. An average bedding set's sheet has around a 90 thread count. These are nice but a count of 300 is more luxurious. The higher the thread count, the more expensive the sheets become.
Another important consideration for the nursery is the baby crib. Being that the crib is the focal point of the nursery, parents must decide the best size crib for the room, or more importantly, how large a crib the room can accommodate. If space is limited, maybe a crib changer combo is the best choice. This way storage of commonly used items such as diapers, clothes, toys, etc will have their place, but the changer which sits atop the drawers is located conveniently.
Aside from the above factors which are most important of course, new parents must decide how to assemble the baby bedding set. There are two choices when it comes to this. Each piece can be bought separately, but this tends to be the more expensive route. In our experience, buying a bedding set is the most economical and practical choice. Not to mention, it's easier to match the bedding set with the overall theme of the nursery and there are fewer considerations for color coordination.
Whatever set you choose, be sure your newborn is peaceful, content and, most importantly, happy. And also make sure that your newborn is positioned thus so as not to move or turn over, with proper side pillows. However, even if your set comes with pillows, they should never be put in the crib of a very young baby.
