The construction of the blanket is the most time-consuming part. Many quilters actually pin the materials of the quilt together before they begin to sew so they can see what it will look like. As far as using a detergent is concerned do not go for the type that is used for casual wears as it would be harsh and fade the colour. Instead go to craft, sewing or fabric stores where one would easily get mild washing powders made especially for delicate fabrics. These days' liquid detergents which are very gentle on fabrics are easily available in supermarkets as well. Make sure to set the washing machine accurately as per the requirement. The bed cover gets very heavy when it is wet because it is made up of three layers so it will also need lot of physical effort.

Next up is the crib sheet. These are usually fitted. If it is not fitted, don't bother. Your child may sleep like an angel, or they may move around a lot. Either way, a fitted sheet will keep itself in place instead of getting wrapped up around your child, which is about as bad as it sounds.

There are a lot of different kinds of down throw blankets out in the market today. The quality of these blankets depends on the type of down that was used. There is the eider blanket that is made in lightweight cloth and can really keep in the heat to warm you up. The fine material comes from the feathers of the sea water ducks of the Northern Hemisphere. If you are not convinced, try going for the best down throw blankets made with eider down or goose down. There are also other types of down but these two have the best warmth and durability with a very affordable and reasonable price.
