Squaring the quilt: After the pieces have been sewn together take a couple of measurements on the upper half and lower half of your quilt. They should be the same. Also take a couple of measurements the other direction. If they are the same you should have an evenly proportioned quilt.

Wheelchair quilts. People in wheelchairs suffer from the hard surface of the chair and a quilted blanket made to measure for the wheelchair could make all the difference. When thinking of wheelchairs also think about carry bags that could be secured to the chair or arm rests, etc. These could also be made to measure and produced in startling colors to standout and give the wheelchair a bit of personality.

Blanket Quilt Aside from serving its purpose as a blanket, a quilt can be a perfect gift for a new bride or a new mother. Many cultures today provide hand crafted quilt's as gifts to new brides on their wedding day as a rite of passage. Many quits are displayed on racks or walls and used as art. They can provide a sense of comfort to just about any space.

Embroidery is a traditional way to add special decorative touches to quilts. Whether by hand or machine, a quilter may accent his or her creation with embroidered flowers or other accents. But today's machine embroidery - for those willing to try it - can make quilting quite different.

Aged Care. As people get older and their needs change from home products to maybe hospital or nursing home products. The introduction of special needs quilts is a niche. Hospital beds are thinner than normal beds, so a caring family would be very willing to undertake whatever was necessary to make their family member comfortable.

After the quilt has been stitched from one side to the other, it is now time to take it out of the frame and see what a masterpiece of fashion that you have created. But you are not done with this project yet, you have to attach a binding around the edge to finish the quilt and before you can start enjoying the warmth of this one of a kind blanket you have created.

First up is the baby quilt or blanket. Useful most of the year, it can be a little much for your bundle of joy during the summer. But for spring and fall, and especially winter, it will keep your new child toasty and snug. Most people will have more than one blanket for their child, either from previous children or from gifts, so this may not be too necessary.
