Never hide your lovely handmade quilt in a closet. A handmade quilt is like a masterpiece of artwork that should be used and displayed. Properly cared for, your quilt can be displayed and still maintain its beauty.

Don't be afraid to use your handmade quilt. The layers and the warmth of the batting make it perfect for keeping you warm cold winter nights. Even after many years of use, this author has several quilts that are still in excellent condition.

This means there are a variety of patterns, whether its a plain or single colour quilt, or printed and stitched patterns. There is no one single design or pattern that defines a quilt, but quilts are most commonly a single colour.

First up is the baby quilt or blanket. Useful most of the year, it can be a little much for your bundle of joy during the summer. Most people will have more than one blanket for their child, either from previous children or from gifts, so this may not be too necessary.

Blanket Quilt Lay out of the quilt: Lay the quilt backing out on a flat surface (such as a bed) and then place the rows sewn together on top of it. The method above uses machine embroidery on relatively small quilts. Larger quilts can be done the same way or may be quilted with machine embroidery by individual quilt blocks. Experiment to decide which method is easiest for you and remember that the machine embroidery quilting method may change with each unique project.
